These Terms of Use apply to your use of PermitCove (www.permitcove.com), including its guides, city pages, permit lookup links, calculator, and checker. Please read them before using the site. By using PermitCove, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Who runs PermitCove
PermitCove is an independent educational website for U.S. homeowners. It is founded, run, and edited by Ahmed Khalifa. The site is published on Google's Blogger platform. You can reach us through the Contact page or by email at ahmedkhalifa@permitcove.com.
General information, not advice
Everything on PermitCove is general information about building permits, inspections, zoning, and renovation paperwork. It is not legal, engineering, architectural, construction, tax, insurance, or other professional advice, and it is not tailored to your property or project. PermitCove is not a government agency and does not issue permits. Only your local building department or other authority having jurisdiction can decide what applies to your project. Our Disclaimer explains this in more detail and is part of these terms.
Using the site
You may read, print, and share PermitCove pages for your own personal, non-commercial use. When you use the site, please do not:
- copy, republish, or sell our articles, tables, checklists, or images as your own, in whole or in large part, without written permission;
- scrape or bulk-download the site, or use automated tools in a way that slows it down or interferes with other visitors;
- try to break into, disrupt, or misuse the site, its contact form, or its comment sections;
- post or send content that is unlawful, abusive, misleading, spam, or that infringes someone else's rights.
Short quotes with a link back to the original PermitCove page are welcome.
Our content
Unless stated otherwise, the text, tables, checklists, layouts, and original images on PermitCove belong to PermitCove. Laws, codes, and government documents we cite belong to their publishers. Names of cities, agencies, products, and companies are used only to identify them and do not mean they endorse PermitCove.
Calculator and checker
The permit expiration calculator and the permit checker give estimates based on model codes and the published rules we have researched. They are planning aids, not official determinations. Always confirm dates and requirements with your building department.
Links to other websites
Our guides link to official city, county, state, and federal pages and to other outside sources. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices. Government pages can move or change without notice; if a link is broken, please let us know.
Comments and messages
If you leave a comment or send us a message, you are responsible for what you write. Comments may be publicly visible. We may moderate, edit for length, or remove comments that are off-topic, abusive, promotional, or that share private information. Please do not send sensitive personal information. Our Privacy Policy explains how messages and site data are handled.
Advertising
PermitCove may show ads, including ads served by Google AdSense, to help keep the site free. Advertisers do not write, review, or approve our articles, and an ad on a page is not a recommendation by PermitCove. How advertising cookies work, and how to opt out of personalized ads, is described in our Privacy Policy.
No warranty
We work to keep our guides accurate and up to date and we link to official sources, but permit rules vary and change often. The site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including that it is complete, current, error-free, or always available.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, PermitCove and its founder are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or your reliance on its content, including fines, fees, failed inspections, delays, construction costs, or decisions made based on information found here. Check every requirement with your local authority before you buy materials, sign a contract, or start work.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
